NexTraq Branded Ladies!

Happy 4th of July! Well, almost.

On this day (tomorrow), 236 years ago the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence, declaring America’s sovereignty and providing us a life of freedom.

Today(err, tomorrow, since our offices will be closed), we celebrate our freedom with stars and stripes, red, white and blue, fireworks and parades, BBQs and quality time with our family and friends.

While you can’t put a price on freedom, you can put a price on how much is spent on Fourth of July items. To give you an idea, here are a few facts from the United States Census Bureau:

  • 3.6 million—the dollar value of U.S. imports of American Flags
  • $302.7 million—Dollar value of shipments of fabricated flags, banners and similar emblems by the nation’s manufacturers in 2007, according to the latest published economic census statistics.
  • 232.3 million—the value of fireworks imported from China, representing the bulk of all U.S. fireworks imported
  • $231.8 million –the value of U.S. manufacturers’ shipments of fireworks and pyrotechnics (including flares, igniters, etc.) in 2007.

And even though flags add a nice decorative piece to your July 4th celebration, let’s be real—everyone comes for the food—oh and to enjoy your company. Did you know that more than 74 million Americans will BBQ on the 4th? Or that 155 million hot dogs will be consumed? That’s a lot of hot dogs!  I guess that’s why July is National Hot Dog Month. **

But, however you spend your Fourth of July holiday, whether its barbequing, watching Nathan’s annual Hot Dog-Eating contest (my bet is on Chestnut) or just relaxing, we at NexTraq would like to wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Did no one else get the memo?

It’s been an exciting few months at NexTraq! NexTraq has several industry firsts in the truck tracking industry, including our integration with Google Maps. Google came to our offices in February and shot a video on our integration with Google Maps. We were then given the opportunity to guest-write an article on the Google enterprise blog, which featured the much-anticipated video.

Enjoy!

NexTraq was just named 27th out of 100 companies in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Top Workplaces list in the small business category. More than 1,000 companies entered the contest. I’m excited to say that I work for one of the top places in Atlanta!

Employees were sent surveys and asked to respond to a set of statements using a seven-point Likert scale. Each statement was tested to ensure a high correlation with how metro employees rate their workplaces. The resulting top 100 list consists of 20 large companies (500 or more employees), 30 midsize companies (150-499 employees) and 50 small companies (149 or fewer employees).

NexTraq recently moved to the Atlanta area from Alpharetta and continues to grow. New jobs continue to open up and we’re excited about the growth and opportunity in the coming year!
